Musicians at The Athenaeum

Mădălina Pașol is a celebrated Romanian pianist, born in a musicians’ family. Her father was lead cellist in the Romanian Radio Orchestra, where her grandfather performed for over 40 years. She is an alumus of the University of Arts in Berlin and studied under Georg Sava and Pascal Devoyon. Winner and laureate of numerous international competitions, including ARD Munchen, Busoni Competition and Artur Schnabel, Mădălina Pașol has appeared on the most important European and Asian venues and recorded among others for Japan Television Production, RBB Kulturradio or the Romanian Television. Mădălina Pașol made a Dinu Lipatti Last Recital Tribute tour in Europe, appeared at the George Enescu Festival in 2017 and continuously promotes young artists at the International Institute of Arts, which she presides. In November 2019, she opened a musical salon in Bucharest, Chopin&Champagne, a project initially started in Berlin, meant to make classical music more accessible and attractive, in an intimate atmosphere.

Marina Melaranci graduated music and musicology at the Sorbonne University in Paris. She also concluded her master’s degree in opera performance with honors at the Conservatory Ottorino Respighi (Latina) in Italy. She young dramatic soprano has a large international repertoire, including french repertoire, german Lieder and arias from Italian great operas. She performed as soloist in France, Italy, Belgium, Brazil and Romania.

Nina Achilov is a young graduate of the National University of Music. She is a soloist at the Comic Opera House for Children in Bucharest, with roles in The Magic Flute, The Sound of Music and King’s Daughter. Other roles: “La Sphinge” (National Opera Bucharest), Dido, in Purcell’s masterpiece “Dido & Aeneas” (Iasi Athenaeum) and Olga, in “Eugene Onegin” (National University of Music). Recitals in Greece (Thessaloniki Conservatory), Italy (Athenaeum Hall in Barletta), Bulgaria (Vidin Philharmonic), Lauder-Reut Gala at the Parliament,  “George Enescu” Festival Square, “Ion Dumitrescu” Philharmonic in Ramnicu Valcea, “Paul Constantinescu” Philharmonic in Ploiesti, The Art Museum in Constanta, Old Music Festival in Miercurea Ciuc, “George Enescu” Museum in Bucharest, Cultural Centre Arcub, Palace of the National Military Circle, etc. Vocal-symphonic music: “Stabat Mater” by G. B. Pergolesi, at the Romanian Athenaeum and the “Paul Constantinescu” Philharmonic in Ploiesti. Soloist with “Alexandrov Ensemble”.

Adina Cocargeanu was born in 1985 in Constanta (Romania). She started studying piano at the age of 7 at the Music School in her home town and continued them at George Enescu Music Highschool. She has a degree in piano performance and she is a master repetitieur at the National Operetta and Musical Theatre Bucharest since 2007. She performed as a soloist and repetiteur in Spain, Turkey, Bulgaria, Finland, Netherlands, United States of America, Japan, Austria, Germany. She received the title of Honorary Citizen of Constanta for her professional activity.

Ava Paşol is a young German cellist and painter born in Pașol’s great dinasty of musicians. At the fourth generation of professional musicians, the Paşol family is teaching and educating at their own school of music. The Paşol family gave Romania double-bass, cello players and pianists continuously for over 4 decades. Ava is 11 years old and is considered to be one of the most promising painters of the young generation. She is currently preparing her first exhibition which will take place in May 2021.
