Cele mai mari 10 concerte pentru violoncel ale tuturor timpurilor

Sinfini Music a facut un clasament al celor mai mari concerte si lucrari pentru violoncel din toate timpurile. De asemenea, clebrul violoncelist Julian Lloyd Webber a facut pentru ei un fel de „top al celor mai mari concerte si lucrari pentru violoncel (aproape) necunoscute publicului”, in mare parte deoarece se canta foarte rar. Si comentariul lui Mike D. Brownell despre acest top, din Sinfini Music: As with any CD whose title begins with „The Greatest…” or „The Best…,” many judgment s must be made by the record company on behalf of the listener. In the case of EMI’s disc collection of The Greatest Cello Concertos, someone had to decide which cello concertos are in fact the „great” ones and which performances of them most exemplify their technical attributes. In both regards, EMI is sometimes right on the mark and sometimes misses it by a long shot. Most of the concertos which were chosen for the album are indeed some of the great works written for the instrument: Dvorak, Elgar, Haydn, Schumann, and even Saint-Saens. The inclusion of the Georg Monn concerto and not one but two Antonio Vivaldi concertos, however, seems questionable in light of the fact that works by Shostakovich, Barber, Lalo, Tchaikovsky, and others were overlooked…
