Mariana Bulicanu, soprano

Mariana Bulicanu was born in Chișinău, Moldova, where she studied at the Stefan Neaga Music College, and at the Academy of Music, Theater and Fine Arts at Canto Academic with Professor Janna Vdovicenco. Currently she is a PhD student at the Academy of Sciences. She is a member of the Moldovan Music Union.

Since 2010, Mariana Bulicanu is a soloist at The National Opera and Ballet Theater in Chisinau. Over the years, she has studied with excellent teachers such as the world famous soprano Luciana Serra

(Docente La Scala, Italy), Ioan Holender (Staatsoper Wien), Mihai Munteanu (TNOB Chisinau), Corneliu Murgu (Timisoara Opera Theater Romania), Corina Mologni (Italy), Nadja Petrenko (Italy-Ukraine), Galina Lebedeva (Novaia Opera – Moscow Russia).

In 2012 Mariana Bulicanu was the winner of the Grand Prix and the Trophy of the „Maria Biesu” International Contest. In 2009 she won a scholarship at „Opernsanger-studio”; Vienna with Teodore Corresi; Laureate of the International Delfic Games (Minsk), „Musical Vacations” (Romania), Iris Adami Corradetti (Italy), Concorso Zandonai (Italy).

In 2013 and 2015 she performed Carmina Burana at the Concergebouw in Amsterdam and in 2012 Mariana Bulicanu shared the stage with Soprano Luciana Serra at Teatro delle Muse Ancona. Also in 2012 she was invited to Astana, Kazakhstan at the Festival of the Best Young Opera Voices of CIS states; she returned to the same festival at Voronezh Theater of Opera and Ballet in 2015; Extraordinary Opera Gala Iasi in 2015 near Leo Nucci; Festival Ukraine Ivano-Frankivsc in 2016.

In 2017 Mariana Bulicanu returned with Carmina Burana to the Concertgebouw, Amsterdam, in 5 productions, but also on stages like „de Doelen”; Rotterdam, The Hague, Eindhoven and Groningen. She collaborated with the Banat Timisoara Philharmonic in 2013 and 2015, The Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, Oradea Philharmonic, Lviv Philharmonic Orchestra, Ivano Frankivc Philharmonic Orchestra, Opera Iasi, and with conductors such as Raymond Janssen (Neatherlands), Alexandru Samoila (MD, Turkey, Ukraine), Camarin Simon (Swizerland), Abzal Mukhitdinov (Kazakhstan), Andriy Yurkevich (Opera Wielkie, Poland), Andrei Oghievski (Russia), Manuil Busto (Spain), Traian Ichim (Romania), Petre Sbarcea (Romania), Gheorghe Costin (Romania).

Mariana Bulicanu sang in 2012 and 2017 at The Romanian Philharmonic „George Enescu”; Bucharest. Collegiate with Organ Hall Chişinău (R.M.), National Philharmonic „Sergei Lunchevici”; (R.M.), National Theater of Opera and Ballet (R.M.), Simfonic Orchestra Tele Radio Moldova (R.M.), Simphonic Orchestra of the Academy of Music, Theater and Arts (R.M.), Youth Orchestra Chisinau 2011. As a student, she had her debut in 2010 on Opera and Ballet Theater stage in the role of Donna Anna in „Don Giovanni”, W.A. Mozart.

Mariana Bulicanu performs on stage TNOB as well as on other stages like Academic Opera and Ballet Theater Odessa Ukraine and tours in Lausanne Switzerland, Geneva BFM Theater, Zurich where she received raving reviews. During her career she successfully performed roles as: Violetta Valery (Traviata), Gilda (Rigoleto, G.Verdi), Lucia di Lammermoor from the homonymous opera by Donizzeti, Donna Anna (Don Giovanni, W. A. Mozart), Zerlina (Don Giovanni, W. A. Mozart), Servilia (Clemenza di Titto, W. A. Mozart), Marfa (The Tsar’s Bride, N.Rimskii-Korsakov), Oscar (Un Ballo in Maschera, G. Verdi), Olympia (Les Contes des Hoffmann, J.Offenbach), Manon (Manon, Jules Massenet), Soprano Carmina Burana (Carl Orf), Vallenciene (Die lustige Witwe, F.Lehar), Adele (Die Fledermaus, Johann Strauss), Musetta (La Boheme, Giacomo Puccini), Liu (Turandot, Giacomo Puccini), Carolina (Il Matrimonio Segretto, Domenico Cimarosa).
