Launched in 1991, the Hamamatsu International Piano Competition commemorates the anniversary of the city’s establishment. Addressed to young talented musicians all over the world, the Competition was started as an international project expressing the pride of Hamamatsu’s tradition and history as a city of music and instruments.
The Competition aims to nurture young pianists and provide them with a stage to showcase their work, promote global music culture and encourage international cultural exchanges.
Providing opportunities for the development of young pianists, the top prize winner of the Competition will join a national and international exchange tour, participate in distinguished music festivals and perform with orchestras or for solo recitals in the following year.
