Facultatea de Teologie Ortodoxa Ilarion V. Felea face parte din Universitatea “Aurel Vlaicu” din municipiul Arad, si este continuatoarea traditiei invatamantului teologic universitar cu specific ortodox peaceste meleaguri romanesti. Existenta invatamantului teologic ortodox este consemnata in istorie, inca din anul 1822, cand rezolutia imparateasca a dispus sa se deschida scoli clericale la Arad, Varset si Timisoara.
In 1927-1928, Institutul Teologic din Arad este ridicat la rangul de Academie Teologica, cea care va functiona pana in anul 1948, pentru ca apoi sa fie desfiintata din cauza presiunii sistemului comunist.
In 1991 invatamantul teologic universitar ortodox reinvie, prin infiintarea Facultatii de Teologie Ortodoxa Ilarion V. Felea, care functioneaza neintrerupt pana in prezent.
